Spent some time last night typing up a letter of recommendation (to get the official seal) from my parish here (with the Spanish translation) and made two copies of a Pilgrim Blessing. I’m taking that to my priest-friend Dan today and will give the other copy to my pastor this Sunday where I expect to “get blessed” after Mass. Here is the text of both:

“Almighty God, you who has called your servant Abram out of the Chaldean city of Ur and watched over him during all his travels, you, who were the guide of the Hebrew people in the desert, we ask you to take care of ____________ who, for the love of your name, starts her pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela. Be for her: her companion on the way, guide at the crossroads, strength in weariness, defense in danger, shelter on the way, shade in the heat, light in the darkness, comfort in despair and firmness in her intentions. So that she, with your help, might arrive safely at the end of her journey and enriched by grace and virtues, might return safely to her home, filled with everlasting joy.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, One God, for ever and ever. May the blessing of God Almighty, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, be with you and remain with you always. Amen.
Go in the peace of the Lord, who himself is the Way, and pray for us in Compostela.”
